Reading the Hunger Games....

I hate to admit but... I gave in. I'm not one to follow the "fad' of the year or whatever. In fact when Twilight first came out, I wasn't even interested. I didn't have time to read Twilight anyways because I was in college taking a full load of classes but I didn't want to get "sucked" in to what the world was raving about. The same was for the Hunger Games when they came out. Again, I was in school so I was already pre-occupied and didn't want to read them. I have had no interest in reading them until recent. Yes, I will admit that the only reason I wanted to start reading the books was because of the trailer of the movie that comes out this month. Crazy. I know. I thought that I would just read the first book and be done with it and put off buying the other two books. However... I gave in and talked myself into buying all three books.

And with that said, after a week and a half, I'm done with the series. Yes, some might say that is fast but for me it wasn't that fast. Of course last weekend I was sick so all I did was read all day anyways. My thoughts on the book? Well.... it was a good read and kept me interested to say the least, well until Book 3. By the third book I was wondering about the ending and then reading it, I wasn't liking what I was reading. It was intense and kind of emotional. I'm still trying to grasp all that happened in the books but I'm not a fan at how Book 3 was. I'll just leave it at that. Don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't read them yet.

Would I recommend them? For the most part yes. It's a good read and I could visualize things that were happening and I like books like that. Not everyone does but I do and I liked that. They are intense though, a little more intense than I was prepared for, even when friends on FB warned me that they were intense. Anyways... I haven't blogged for a while and figured I should blog so this is what I started writing. Now you all know my thoughts on the Hunger Games haha. I'm very interested to see the movie and how much it will actually follow the book. We'll see. I'll probably blog about that when I see the movie too ;)

Something Borrowed

So I recently just finished reading the book "Something Borrowed". The movie just came out as well so I had to of course compare against the book. Basically.... the movie is better. At least that is my opinion. The book was a little too PG-13 for my taste but still a good read however I would rather watch the movie then read the book 100 times. The movie doesn't follow the book exactly which I liked.

Anyways...now that I've finished this book I'm on to.....??? who knows! Lol I have a few good reads I can choose  from the problem is deciding haha. Anyhow... check out the book or rather the movie (I vote movie!) if you are interested :)

The Series Came to an End....

Before I start writing in depth, let me just say that I am by no means a die hard Harry Potter fan. I love Harry Potter but I didn't go to every mid-night showing (actually only went to one!) and so on. With that said, I'm sad to see the end of Harry Potter. I grew up reading those books. I read them in middle school and high school and I'm kind of sad that it's all over now that the last movie has been made. BUT I have to say that these actors are probably looking forward to what's next for them and all of them have extremely incredible talent. Ronald Weasley (aka Rupert Grint) is by far my FAVORITE!! Seriously. He is hilarious!!

I was kind of bummed when all my friends went to go see Harry Potter without me. Kind of ruined my week actually but hey, family is more important and so I was somewhat okay with it since we had loads of baseball games and so on going on. Now I've seen it twice :) I went with Auntie  Trish, Uncle Don, David, Scott and Chad the first time. I must admit I laughed in some parts because it was kind of cheesy but overall it was a good movie. The second time I took Kenzie because Auntie Jill doesn't want to see it and it was a blast!! :)

Anyways, so long Harry Potter. As an adolescent I loved reading those books and will probably do so again in the future because it's a good read. Now on to reading some other great books :) I still haven't read the Hunger Games nor do I have any interest to. I was the same way with Twilight and eventually gave in and read those but I'm holding out on the Hunger Games until all the hype is down. There is something about when people rave about a series, it makes me want to read it less. Guess I'm abnormal like that but I don't like to follow the crowd so to speak lol. Anyhow... The series of Harry Potter came to end... we will see what comes next :)

The Help

So remember my news years list on how I was going to read 10 books?? Click here to read that. I'm still working on it and I've done a few of them but that has nothing really to do with my post today haha. I've been reading some fictional good-read books and I've FINALLY finished the book called "The Help". I put finally in caps because it was an extremely hard read for me. Weird huh. I love to read but this book was super hard for me to get into, let alone read. I think because it was written in a different way that it was hard for my brain to translate the writing style. Literally, I read this book so slow, that's rare for me. Of course I'm not my mom and finish a book in two hours lol but I consider myself a fast reader and it has literally taken me MONTHS to read this book. Taylor first introduced it to me when I asked her if she had any suggestions on some good reads. Thanks for recommending it Taylor and I'm sorry it took me so long to read!!

I have mixed feelings about the book. There are some parts that I wish weren't in there but overall it was a good read. I guess they are making it into a movie so we'll see how that goes. Overall though, I would definitely recommend it. It gives a distinct point of view on things back in the 1960's. Anyways, now I need to focus on my list and cross off a few more of those books. I started reading Mother Teresa's biography but sadly I've mis-placed the book so I need to find it so I can cross that off too.
