Random Thoughts

This is going to be a really random post but that’s okay because sometimes it’s nice to read random things all at once :) Hopefully you get something out of this but if not....oh well... just enjoy reading it then :) My random thoughts for the day:
Honesty.......
First of all, in all my endeavors, everything I say and do I find that honesty is always the best policy. You have to be honest with yourself first though in order to be honest with everyone else. Sometimes that is easier said than done yes, but the outcome is SO much better. Brigham Young once said, “Honest Hearts Produce Honest Actions” and I totally believe that. How can we live day by day if we aren’t honest? It’s all about integrity and people who lie to me and tell me stories think that it will make life so much better. In reality, it doesn’t. It only makes things worse. I believe in integrity and I look for it in all. It’s there, most of the time, just have to dig deep. Everyone can be honest....funny thing is, most of the time people aren’t because it’s easier to lie. I don’t really know why that is but people who lie aren’t attractive and isn’t it so much better when you’re honest? Think about it :)
Random Songs........
I’ve had a lot going on lately and while some of it has been very tiring and draining and I’ve just been needing a break. Yesterday I heard some amazing songs and while I can’t remember the names of them, at that specific moment, that song was exactly what I needed to hear and just totally described how I was feeling. Ever had those moments, or am I the only one? Maybe it’s just me but sometimes I even will drive around the block just to hear the song finish. There is some amazing music out there and I love it when my favorites come on just in time for me to sing them (no not to anyone but me of course haha). I admit I sing in the car ALL the time. It’s a great stress reliever and I even sing church hymns when I feel I need the Spirit more or if I need to calm down. I don’t sing to anyone, just myself, well and God can hear me too :) I love to sing and I use to in front of people but not so much anymore. Anyways, my favorite random song time is when Dynamite comes on and my little brother gets up and starts dancing to the music. I just absolutely love that kid. He is amazing :) Music can be very uplifting and amazing, just listen to the good kind :)
Be a Good Friend......
We all have friends. We have best friends and then we have the friends that we hang out with but don’t really tell all our secrets to. It’s nice to have a good group of friends to have fun with. My Bishop told me not too long ago, that someone told him that if he wanted to “friend” someone on facebook, just go to my page and look at all my friends. I feel like that is not necessarily true, I think there are others who know more people than I do. Sure, I know people and yes, I’m friends with them but I don’t know everyone. Funny how people think that though. Truth is I love being a friend to everyone. I don’t believe in cliques, I think that being in a clique would make me go crazy because I love to include everyone. Even if you are in a clique or rather have a specific group you hang out with, be a good friend to those people. Listen with intent to their concerns or problems. Sometimes I feel like I have failed in the area of being a good friend and wonder if I should’ve called or texted someone that I didn’t that day because I didn’t get around to it or whatever. I hope I am a good friend, I believe that I am and want to be. This past week I had a friend that I’ve known for a while but haven’t really had conversations with before that we just started talking and I found this friend is very knowledgeable and gives very good advice. It’s nice to have friends that you can talk to about how your feeling and your frustrations. This friend was especially good to talk with because they have experienced a loss like I have and sometimes it’s nice to know that there is someone else that knows EXACTLY how you are feeling. Not everyone will experience the same trials in life but it’s nice to have friends who have been through the same thing and it’s nice to have friends who have not. We’re all here for each other and the main thing is to just be a good friend to all. I love all my friends and each one helps me in different ways as I strive to be a better person and friend. Just remember... be a good friend :)

Missionary Work.......
My last random thought for the day is on Missionary Work!! YAY for missionaries! As hard as I try not to think about it, three people very special to me are going on their missions. Jessica is leaving tomorrow and will be reporting to the MTC on Wednesday for her mission in Texas. I’m so happy for her and proud of her decision. She will be a great missionary serving the Lord. My cousin Donnie is also leaving in a few weeks and that is going to be tough as well. He is going to Argentina and while I’m sad he is leaving, I know that it will be a great experience for him teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those in Argentina.  My cousin JJ is also serving a mission in Vegas and I’m so happy for him too :) Missionary work is awesome and I’m looking forward to writing these three ALL the time :)
Alright, enough random thoughts for the day. Stay tuned for more  random thoughts from Kati in the future ;) And thanks to all those who read my blog... makes me feel better someone is actually reading all these thoughts but if not...oh well at least I wrote it down. I love journal writing so blogging is so good as well :)

Remodel is FINALLY finished!!!!

Okay so are you ready for it? Here are the pictures of our remodel :) Mostly of the kitchen but I threw in a few of the family room, front room and dining room. The only true before and after pictures I have are of the kitchen which of course was the biggest part of the remodel anyways. Those of you who have been to my house before can see the main difference in the other rooms as well. There are still a few things that need to be taken care of but it's looking good. Now all we need is our bookshelf put in and whew...it will all be done. Well the downstairs anyways. The upstairs will need stuff done at some point but after this disaster I think my mom is going to take a break from remodeling. I think she is most looking forward to parking in the garage again (still some furniture in there). Anyways, enjoy the pictures! I thought about doing like a video virtual tour but decided against it as I don't know who really looks at this blog and a real inside view of my house if I don't know you is a little creepy lol. Pictures is all you get :) enjoy!

Now I can finally say I posted the remodel. Seems like it's been a year since it happened haha but it's only been a few  months. I like the new change though :) I do have to also say that wood floors are a lot harder to maintain then tile.... every time I sweep it's like I have to start all over again once I've finished. Anyhow...here they are :)

Miss Kara Cute

So remember when I did a post about Elissa's Birthday? I said that I would do a random post about Kara one of these days and today is the day :) There wasn't some big ah ha moment today that made me want to write about her but I think about her every day and auntie misses her Kara Cute. A couple of years ago when Emily was working I had the opportunity to be a nanny for these two and Kara and I had three hours of just me and Kara time while Elissa was at school. We played games or watched a movie (usually Sleeping Beauty...which come on now... is definitely worth watching all the time!) or if it was nice outside we played outside.

This little girl has the sweetest spirit and I just love her! My ring tone for Em when she calls is Kara saying "Hi Kati I love you" and then Em chimes in "I love you too Kati". Sometimes I just let my phone ring a couple of times before I answer it because I just love it :) So here is my little random note about miss Kara who means the world to me and is getting all growed up in big ol' Texas :) Can't wait for summer so I can see her and the family!! Love you Kara! :)

Biggest Loser Update and Other News :)

So I have a few things to talk about but first I will start with my every other week update on The Biggest Loser. I cried during this last episode, Marci, Deni and Jesse made the ultimate sacrifice and it touched my heart. To be honest when they showed the black team having the discussion about who would go home and so on, I knew that Marci was going to throw the weigh in but I was surprised that Jesse did. I had a feeling Deni might and wow... did she throw the weigh in but it paid off. She looks great and that means Sarah is safe at least for one more week so that made me happy. Jesse really surprised me though. From the discussion with everyone I felt like he wasn't willing to do whatever it took to let Arthur stay. I saw both sides of it though, yes he should get to stay too but the way he said some things, I can see why the girls would be offended. Way to go Red team for winning the challenge... that looked hard. And I was so sad when Jen gained because I knew she would be having a tough week since Jay was eliminated last week. I didn't think it was right that Jay was sent  home. I think Kaylee should have gone, she is almost to her target weight and sooner, rather than later, she will be going home. I think if Arthur hadn't switched the teams the way he did, Jay would've been there for a lot longer. Jen is tough though, I think she will pull through and I'm looking forward to a big loss for her next week. After my last post and how I was angry, I don't have anything bad to say. The past two weeks have been good and I'm looking forward to what next week brings :)

In other news.... my friend Rayleen and I went and talked to an Army recruiter yesterday. We actually planned to go see a Navy recruiter but when I pulled up the offices and picked the one in Redlands, it was Army. So we decided to stay and talk to this guy (over speaker phone because he was at another office). It was an interesting conversation to say the least. And it wasn't very hopeful or encouraging. In all truth, I just wanted to go to say I tried and to see what they have to offer. The Army can actually offer a lot if... I had a Bachelor's AND 6 months experience. Um... the whole point of going was because we can't get experience elsewhere. So that was kind of a bummer. We are making plans to talk to the Navy still and see what they have to say. The Army recruiter wasn't too pushy, which I liked but the information he had to provide wasn't comforting either. So we'll see what the Navy has to say and in the mean time... keep applying to jobs everywhere. I've had a few people ask me where I've been applying and the honest truth is.... EVERYWHERE. That's it... I don't know what else to tell you. My mom keeps bugging me about talking to nurse managers.... um, I have and they all tell me the same thing.... it's slow right now and they want people with experience. The sad part is my friend who is an RN is still working as an LVN because she can't get an RN job and she has experience. So it's just altogether bad. I was telling my friend yesterday that I feel I should have majored in something else... I don't know what.. but obviously nursing is at a slow point. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in despair.... there's a job out there for me... just waiting for the opportune time :)

I have more to write but I'll do it in another post at a later time :) Gotta go switch laundry and get ready to take Bret to scouts. Fun times! Happy Wednesday! :)

"When I Became Invisible"

So I was reading this article in the New Era yesterday and it really hit home for me. This is how I felt some people around me acted and at the time I was hurt and angry but I tried not to let it get the best of me. The article talked about how this girl became invisible after her sister had died. Her friends didn't wait for her after school, they didn't walk with her to the bus stop, they didn't say one thing to her. Then at church in Young Women's they were having a discussion about death and the after life and this girl just started to sob. No one moved over to give her a hug and the teacher just went on with the lesson. My heart went out to this girl. Granted the story was probably written years after it had happened but I felt her pain, partly because I've kind of been there.

When someone dies that you are close to, people around you don't know what to say. It was the same thing with my Dad. It still kind of is that way when I meet someone new and they don't know the story. They ask about my family and I tell them about my Mom and my siblings but leave out the part about my Dad. Sometimes it's still too hard to talk about. Then they ask well what about your Dad, where is He? And then I have to say that he passed away and is not here. Then it gets awkward. They say "I'm Sorry" and I say "It's Okay or Thank You" and then there is a pause before the conversation goes to something else. I realize that more often than not I say "It's Okay" because really it is okay. That's the beauty of the Gospel and what I believe in. Families are Forever. And it's okay my Dad isn't here now, because I know I will see him again someday.

Aften my Dad passed away, it was a hard time for me (and my family of course). My friends didn't know what to say or how to act and that was the hardest thing because I just wanted them to act normal. I did have a few who cried with me, sat and hugged me or took me out to ice cream. I will never forget those moments because to me, those moments were what got me through my darkest days. I must admit though that sometimes I still feel invisible to those around me. Partly because a lot of them do not know the whole story. It's not their fault though, everyone is human and that's alright. I haven't shared the whole story and so I'm at blame for wanting to feel noticed or whatever instead of feeling invisible. Maybe someday I will share the whole story for the world to read about how hard it really was, but not today.  Our family still struggles but we have managed pretty good so far. And we are a happy family :) Trials bring forth blessings and I know that when we endure to the end, everything is alright. I also believe that when we go through something, we can then be of help to someone else along our path who is also experiencing the same struggle. I have to say that I have been blessed with the knowledge that God loves me and that everything really will be alright and I'm glad that I can be one who will cry with another and give comfort to those who need it.

My heart goes out to those who have felt like that girl did. Invisible and alone. How sad that in that class they all just sat there and did nothing. I pray that whoever reads this will not be one of those and will just show their love by being there for them and loving them. Please do not let anyone feel invisible. These are the suggestions this girl provided:

*Be There For Your Friend
*Include Your Friend in Things You Normally Do
*Don't Feel The Need To Give The Life After Death Sermon

I couldn't agree more with these suggestions. Life is a struggle and we all need people around us to lift us up and help us carry on. I believe I have Angels among me, those who are my true friends and uplift me in my darkest times, those are my earthly angels :) This article really did hit home for me and brought back the memories from 18 months ago when I felt sort of the same. Life is good no matter what happens. God loves us no matter what. Be a Friend to those who need it. And remember, Life is an Adventure Worth Taking... through the bad times and the good :)

Remember that always! God Loves Us All :)

(Those of you who read this who aren't members of the church, the New Era is a magazine our church sends out with articles and stories that the youth can read. If you would like to know more just go to mormon.org)

Thank Goodness for Netflix :)

So it's almost 10:30 at night and I don't even feel tired... must be all those naps these past few days that I've taken due to being sick. Let me just say that you know when I'm real sick. It's the kind of sick that makes me sleep all day and hardly eat anything because you just don't feel good type of sick. I had a fever for a couple of days and now I'm feeling much better. I don't get sick very often but when I do, it really sucks. Oops I mean stinks... (in our family, sucks is a bad word lol).

So besides sleeping this whole last week away, I haven't done much else except read and watch movies. Mind you, most of the time I have been sleeping. See, the thing is, I got really sick in high school and ever since then, my immune system has been a bust. I've worked really hard to boost up my immune system with exercise and eating healthy and most of the time, I don't get sick. This time around though I wasn't so lucky so bam... immune system is shot and I'm sleeping the whole week. Anyhow... enough of my immune system history (probably more info than you need haha) but during my sick days I've gotten to enjoy my free trial of Netflix even more.

Emily tried to get to me do Netflix a while back and I just kept putting it off. Finally last month I decided I better see what it's all about and you know what, I LOVE it! Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE movies. I don't necessarily love going to the movie theater because it's gross and people are coughing on you etc. So I love watching movies at home. I am part of the Disney Movie Club and I have tons of movies. Anyhow, with Netflix, I can watch movies that I have wanted to see and don't want to spend like five bucks to go rent, so Netflix is a great choice. Amazing! Thanks Emily for recommending it!

Anyways, this is kind of a random post but I just wanted to write something... I'm currently watching Lord of the Rings... I know long movie but Orlando Bloom is in it so it won't seem too long haha... he looks better in Pirates of the Caribbean so I'm off to finish the first one. I promise one of these days I will get around to posting the remodel, I have to put all the pictures together first and I'm just tired to do it haha... but tomorrow is a new day so maybe then. Hope everyone's weekend is going great and enjoy reading this random post :)

Motivation....and a fever.....

So I have happy news.... and not so happy news... I will start with the bad news first and then end with some happiness :)

So I realized today that I haven't blogged since Sunday! wow, crazy huh! Thanks Melissa for reading and commenting on my last post :) At least I know I have avid reader :) I apologize for no more posts since then. Life has been crazy and I didn't even send out my Valentine's cards until today. I know lame, right? I figure that it's still Valentine's week so it's not too bad. I really wanted to post a new recipe I tried last week, just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe tonight, or even tomorrow I will since... well here's the bad news for the day, I have a fever :( My day started out totally fine, went on a walk with Auntie Trish, came home, researched more places to look for jobs then got a massive headache and took a nap. Woke up from my nap feeling a little better but now boom.... fever time has kicked in. I'm prescribing myself lot's of fluids and plenty of rest but I hate being sick so it's no fun! Plus, I am supposed to help my friend do dinner with the missionaries tomorrow but unfortunately I don't think that will be happening. Alright, enough of my rambling about bad news.... now for the good news, well something that made my day anyway :)

As those of you who read this know, I LOVE reading blogs. They make my day and today in particular it was my cousin's blog. She is so motivational I just can't even describe how awesome she is. I wish you all knew her because she is amazing! She motivates me all the time and today it was even better. She reminded me that we only have ONE life to live, so let's live it the fullest. Don't waste time regretting something you didn't get to do. If you want to do something, do it. If you want to say something, then say it (only if it's nice though, that's what your mom always taught you right?) Dream big, and live your life! Remember life is an adventure worth taking! So thank you Carissa for making my day and motivating me once again. I love my family and friends who never give up on me and always encourage me!
Carissa and Me at Tricia and Don's wedding! We were matchy matchy :)

Furious!

Warning!! If you haven't seen the episode yet... stop reading!!!

I wasn't going to blog about Biggest Loser until next week. I figure every week is a little too much so just a recap on my thoughts every few weeks would be fine. But not today.... today I'm blogging because I was furious with last night's episode. From the beginning I have not like most of Bob and Jillian's team. They are slowly growing on me and I think that I like most of them (even Aqua). The unknowns have been my favorite from the start (minus Q) and I think it's because they took a big risk and it paid off. They took the chance to train with two unknowns when they knew the Bob and Jillian are amazing and have incredible outcomes. They took a chance, it paid off and they because like family to one another. Last night, that all changed. They had their challenge and the person who ate the most candy got to choose whether to switch two people or have the teams stay the same.

Moses ate chocolate so that he could make sure his team stay as a family. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Arthur decided to eat the most and made the WORST decision ever. He switched Jay and Jen for Deni and Sarah. I was FURIOUS!! As soon as I heard who was switching, I knew it wasn't anyone on the unknowns... because they would NEVER do that. It made me feel better that Bob and Jillian's team also was furious. I get some of his thought behind it but at the same time, I felt that he was being selfish just so he could have his Dad stay there longer. The thing is, he hasn't realized yet that he needs to do this on his OWN. His Dad won't be there forever and he needs to learn how to do this on his own. Deni and Sarah showed him though... those girls put up big numbers this week and I am proud of them! Way to go PINK!!

I think Arthur has realized that it wasn't the best decision he has ever made. I forgive him...no one is perfect. He still has a lot of improving to do and if he starts showing it more...it will mean he has finally realized that he can do this. Deni and Sarah called themselves "sacrificial lambs" which is how they felt with the switch and honestly, I don't blame them. That was Arthur's thought process behind it and I wish he would've thought more clearly. Oh well... what's done is done. The switch was made. At least Deni and Sarah got to be on the winning team and see videos from home. I got tears in my eyes watching all those videos. What a great transformation they are doing, to better themselves and feel great. And look at how strong Deni is for missing her daughter's wedding to be on the show. Amazing. We'll see what next week brings...hopefully more happiness then this week did.

Goals Update :)

So remember  these from about a month ago?? I just thought I would give a little update on my progress of my goals. It's going well but like most goals, everything takes time. I did read a health related book that has done wonders. It's called "The Hormone Diet" by Natasha Turner N. D. and I highly recommend it. I decided to do my autobiography book on Mother Theresa and so far it's really good. I'm looking forward to learning a lot of new things this year. I am currently crocheting a blanket for my room... probably won't be the cutest one you've ever seen but it's my first so it'll hold a special place in my heart. It will probably take me a whole year to crochet it anyways haha but that's okay. I love doing it little by little. I also got to attend the temple last month and it's my goal to keep that up. I've added another goal to my list and that's to do a humanitarian service project. I really believe that it's something I NEED to do and it's also something that I really WANT to do. My friend Natalie had written on her blog about it last month and that same day my cousin Carissa did as well. How crazy is that? I had been thinking about it but both of them voiced it before I ever got around to it. Due to the fact that I'm unemployed, Carissa researched and found Habitat for Humanity right here in California! It's not as expensive as going to another country so we are going to plan on doing that and then someday when I'm employed we can go to Costa Rica and do a service project there too. I can't wait!!  Don't worry Natalie... I still want to do one with you as well. It's a new passion I have and I LOVE it! Honestly, what's better in life then giving of your time to serve others who need help more than you do? I think it's one of the best kinds of service we can give and I'm looking forward to it. Besides...that's on my goal list anyways, to serve daily. So I challenge all of you to go out and find some service in your area! Do it! It will make your life SO much better! :)

I LOVE Hockey!!!!!!

So last night I went to a hockey game. It was my first one that I had been to in a LONG time. And I was reminded tonight, how much I absolutely love it!  I honestly don't know what it is about the sport but it's amazing! I'm not a violent person, nor will I ever be but seeing hockey players fight is kind of entertaining... I take that back...it is VERY entertaining! It's an intense sport and I am absolutely in love with it. It keeps me entertained the whole time and ...yeah... there are no words to describe how awesome it is. If you have never been to one, I suggest you try it. You most definitely will be entertained the whole time and when you have great friends right there with you, it makes for such a great outing. I really want to take Bret to a game now, and Chad if he wants to. Bret loves hockey (must be those Canadian genes lol) and I think he will enjoy it just as much as I do. I think if I ever got a job and it was in a place that is cold a lot, I would find a place that is near a hockey rink so I could go watch games. I'm serious. I wish I could go to Canada more often to see my cousins play because it's just so great. Alright, I am done writing... just had to let you all know how much I love hockey! Here are a few pictures from my fabulous night:
It's the Orange Team that's the Reign... I wish I had gotten pictures of the team captain that was the one that got into a huge fight...maybe next game :)

Another Close up of the teams

Mikey is my favorite person to photograph. Why? Because I like taking random  pictures of people and every random photo I have of him is perfect. It was his first hockey game so he was watching intensely.

Aubrey, Jessica and Me
(I know... I look all pasty and pale... for one..not a lot of make up on and two...these girls are just naturally tan)

Me and Denise!

I can't wait for my next game I go to which hopefully will be soon! I already have people saying they want to come with so I'm super excited!! :)

Birthdays are the Best!!!!

It’s no secret I love birthdays. Not for me (because I hate being in the spotlight) but for the people around me that I care about. I’ve had a lot of birthdays to post about and another today! It’s Emily’s birthday and I hope she has the best day ever! I feel weird not being there to celebrate with her...it’s something I better start getting used to. I’m there in spirit though Em!

I honestly don’t remember how we actually became friends. I think it was when she was watching Bret and Jake and Em were my Sunday School teachers. We’ve been friends for so long though that we can’t even remember how long it’s been haha.... Time doesn’t matter though, we’ve been through the best of times, worst of times, happy times, sad times...you name it, we’ve been through it. She’s one of my best friends and knows exactly what to say, when I need to hear it. If I need her to call someone or look something up, all I have to do is ask and pow..it’s done. I am blessed to know her, and blessed that we are so close. She is like family to me and always will be. It doesn’t matter that we are thousands of miles apart now, we are still as close as ever. This is one of my favorite friendship poems:
A friend is someone we turn to when our spirits need a lift.
A friend is someone we treasure for our friendship is a gift.
A friend is someone who fills our lives with beauty, joy and grace.
And makes the whole world we live in a happier and better place.

Emily has always been a true friend. She is someone I can count on, someone that takes me out spur of the moment, someone who makes me laugh, someone who cries with me, and someone who always puts the needs of others before her own and gives service with love. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend and my life is better having her in it. Thank you Emily for constantly loving and being the best and greatest friend ever! I love you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Becoming a Pro...

I've decided that I'm a pro at applying to jobs online. I mean I do it daily...and really, I mean it when I say I'm applying to jobs daily. I'm not just sitting around the house being a bum, I'm hard at work researching hospitals and applying for jobs. Some of these online job websites are actually quite handy. Once I've entered in all the information once, it saves it so every time I apply for a new job, all the info is there. I just have to answer the qualification questions and then click, it's done. This is just a short post today.. I wanted to get the remodel pictures done but I've had other things on my mind so I will get it done soon..stay tuned, I promise they are coming! So if you ever have any questions about online applications, call me, I'm a pro at it now :) And hopefully one day soon, I will get a job.....

BL Update

So figure I won't write about Biggest Loser every week but every few weeks I'll share my thoughts. Let me just say, I love Bob and Jillian but this season I'm for the unknown team minus Q who obviously isn't putting in all effort he needs to. Now that his wife is gone, I hope he stays true to his promise and starts working harder. I was surprised that they didn't let the pink team win immunity but those girls are fighters and pulled it off well. Way to go Pink team!

I think if I had to choose a team from the Ranch though I would pick the green team. I like them the best and I think they did well adjusting to the Malibu location with the unknowns. I like the purple team too though but I'm not really fans of any of the others on the Ranch team. It will be interesting to see what happens next week since all contestants are all together again. I'm interested to see how the new trainers work in what has been Bob and Jillian's territory for ten years. I like them and I think they are proving to be very good trainers, something obviously is working since their team keeps losing big numbers. I'm nervous for them though, maybe they were getting big numbers for now but what about later down the road? Hmm...it will be interesting to see. I'm still huge fans of Bob and Jillian too don't worry :)
So... What team are you voting for? And who is your favorite?

February....

Wow, it's the first day of February already. It seems like January just FLEW by! So crazy! Something a lot of people don't know, is that I love February. I mean it's not my favorite month (any one want to guess what month is?) but I still love this month. The funny thing is, I don't really know why. This is the month of LOVE and we all know that there isn't any of that going on in my life...boy department wise haha. I still have lot's of friends and family that LOVE me and that's what counts. The best part about this month is that it's short and sweet :) Bring it on February, I am looking forward to what this month brings...hopefully lot's of LOVE and happiness haha:)

Just had to blog about February on the 1st day :) Pictures are finally up on our walls so that means I can finish taking pictures and editing and POSTING the house remodel. So stay tuned! :) Love you all!
